From a indigenous perspective the world is changing and leadership is turning towards holistic purposeful leadership.
The biggest problem we have now is the trust factor of our leaders and the well being of the people. The western corporate model is based on the individual and contradicts with the indigenous collective approach.
Over the past year Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern empasised the the key behaviour change in 'Being Kind' and the collective responsibility of the team of 5 million. We were going through lockdown procedures and the pragmatic approach to adapting to newer normal.
So how does this fit into the issues and challenges especially with the ensuring pandemic raging across the globe COVID-19? There are still restrictions in Aotearoa New Zealand and the cost to businesses and many families suffering mentally.
From a Pasifika perspective-the well being of people is the key factor. A holistic collective approach with responsibilities to care for each other in times of crisis. Helping each other and the key here is empathy.
