What do you do when the team hit's the wall?

Empathy is a critical leadership skill that can be improved in our current time. It is showing your team that you care and that you are able to connect with them by serving their needs and creating safe spaces for them to be connected, engaged and motivated.

The ongoing lockdowns in Auckland and across Aotearoa New Zealand is causing frustration and stress among business owners, and workers. A lack of a roadmap does not mean that you do not have one.

As a leader it is a time to think what you can do now to help your people. There is a balance you will need to ensure your are caring for your own mental health as a leader and need people to check on you.

What can you do to help now to help your team?

Here are a few insight's over a decade of being involved and working in high performance teams across the world.

  1. Show the team your vision-Inspire your team with what you see in the near future. With doubt, stress and fear your vision will prove to be critical in inspiring and motivating your team.
  2. Create SMART goals of your vision and ensure your team is involved in the process. Your team will engage in the process and for you to give voice to their concerns, aspirations and motivations.
  3. Bring in different speakers who offer insights into team work, tools and strategies for your team to thrive-hint hint!
  4. Share your stories to the team-Create more deeper level trust with your team by telling them what they do not know about you-Yes our leader is human after all!
  5. Imagine being in their shoes and what they are going through-This is important with many of your teams schedules and disruptions of their family and children's lives even their pet's!

Select one and implement this week and let me know how you go.
